Borboleta
A film by Martin Perry & Kaiden Ford
In their first film ‘BREATHE IN’, we witnessed artist Kaiden Ford completely submerge themselves underwater, viscerally illustrating their struggles with the demands of life as a queer sex worker and performer. In ‘Borboleta’, we find them isolated again. Seen through the unflinching lens of filmmaker Martin Perry, as they move through a 3-day journey in isolation and sensory deprivation, finally emerging and expressing themselves through improvised dance accompanied by the vocalist Theo Papoui. The result is a cinematic 20-minute meditation on the artist’s search for answers around their queerness, gender identity and the need for self expression and connection.
